Statue of Liberty

The jurist and political Frenchman, Eduardo Laboulaye, had the idea that Fance offered a present to The United States as an obsequiousness for the commemoration of the centenary of the American independence in 1886, as a souvenir of the long friendship between both countries and to guarantee the French-American alliance. It is one of the most famous monuments in New York, the United States and around the world. It is located on the Liberty Island in the South of the island of Manhattan, at the mouth of the Hudson River and near Ellis Island. The 15th october in 1924, the statue was declared a national monument of the United States and the 15th October in 1965 added Ellis Island. Since 1984 is considered world heritage by Unesco. The statue of liberty, as well as being an important monument in the city of New York, became a symbol in United States and represents, on a more general level, the freedom and emancipation.
